Martyn Smith, who has over two decades of experience in commercial and leadership roles, has been announced as group commercial director at Tilbury Douglas

Tilbury Douglas has announced the appointment of Martyn Smith as commercial director.

With more than 25 years of experience, most recently as commercial director at Ferrovial Construction, Martyn has extensive knowledge of the sector and industry.

Prior to Ferrovial Construction, Martyn has also held senior positions at other leading construction companies including Kier, Costain and Vinci.

Developing Tilbury Douglas’ sustainable growth

Paul Gandy, CEO at Tilbury Douglas, said: “Martyn will be responsible for the development and implementation of the business’ commercial strategy, which supports the sustainable growth of Tilbury Douglas.”

Martyn Smith joins Tilbury Douglas at a time of continued development

Recent developments by Tilbury Douglas include launching a new digital design platform with design partners Unity for smarter and more efficient creation of concept designs using approved standardised layouts.

Connect Configurator, a web-based application, can design whole buildings by placing individual rooms. These individual rooms include building components.

In October, the firm was selected by Sheffield Council as the preferred bidder for the Older Persons Independent Living (OPIL) scheme on the Newstead in southeast Sheffield, currently awaiting further approval in the coming weeks.

In November, work commenced on on two projects for the City of Edinburgh Council. Activities are underway on the Kirkliston Primary and Early Years Extension, which involve the design and build of a new early learning centre, as well as the Bankhead Depot re-modelling project which will improve and upgrade existing facilities.

A third project is situated in Bellshill and will provide a new fleet depot for North Lanarkshire Council.
