Offsite construction specialists, The McAvoy Group, has expanded its board with the appointment of Martin O’Neill as contracts director

With 25 years’ experience in construction and civil engineering, Martin O’Neill brings a wide range of project delivery experience to his new role as contracts director.

He will be responsible for delivering offsite projects to high-quality standards, whilst meeting McAvoy’s stringent health and safety requirements on every site.

He will also work at the initial design and procurement stages of a project and will lead site operations to handover and post-completion.

Collaborating with the group’s business development, commercial and manufacturing teams will be a key aspect of his role as contracts director, giving clients the benefit of a fully seamless approach.

O’Neill was previously regional director for Scotland and Northern England at Farrans Construction where he was responsible for around £100m of projects each year. He managed a full team of construction professionals, focusing on the delivery of every project on budget and to the required quality and specification.

High profile contracts that Martin has been involved in include the Edinburgh Tram extension and a series of major wind farm projects.
