Glasgow-based BAM Properties, the property development arm of BAM Construct UK, has appointed a new managing director.

John Burke, who was with the firm for almost 25 years, is retiring from his role and will be replaced by Dougie Peters.

Peters, who graduated from the University of Edinburgh, is a qualified Chartered Accountant. He trained with KPMG and has a vast wealth of experience in both commercial and residential property.

He was made finance director of BAM Properties in 2005 and as such has significant experience with the firm he is set to lead.

Dougie said: “I relish the role ahead, particularly at a time in the market with so many opportunities for a developer that has imagination and a real feel for what appeals to investors and occupiers.

“BAM Properties is a great business with a fantastic team of talented people that can make things happen in this environment.”

BAM Properties development boasts an impressive portfolio including the Aurora building in Bothwell Street and the Riverside Transport Museum, both in Glasgow, as well as the refurbishment of the National Portrait Gallery in Edinburgh.
