All five hires previously worked at Jacobs and bring with them sector experience, having worked on projects for multiple airfield contractors

The team will focus on developing and extending Ramboll’s design and build airfield infrastructure capability in the UK, with an emphasis on supporting their growing MoD/DIO capability.

On the back of project wins at key UK airports such as Heathrow and Stansted, Ramboll continue to grow their presence in the aviation sector.

Matthew Pierpoint, global spearhead director for Aviation, commented: “The arrival of this fully formed team will provide an immediate boost to our capabilities in the aviation sector. It’s an exciting time for Ramboll’s aviation team, especially in the UK.

“Our civil aviation business continues to grow with major projects at Heathrow, Stansted and Jersey, whilst our position on the DIO frameworks is generating a stream of new business at military sites. This has not gone unnoticed in the sector, meaning we are increasingly able to attract the best talent.”

The team includes Martin Smith, an airfield infrastructure specialist with over 30 years’ experience in the aviation industry. Ian Stevenson, also an airfield infrastructure specialist, joins the team as chief engineer with over 25 years’ experience. Richard Ward, a military and civil airfield infrastructure specialist with over 12 years’ experience, joins as principal engineer.

Adding to the team’s skillset is Chris Stanley who joins Ramboll as senior technician with a focus on engineering design, 3D modelling, CAD and BIM skills in the airfield infrastructure space. The team is completed by airfield infrastructure Technician, Sam Parker.

Commenting on his new position at Ramboll as airfield director, Smith said: “Ramboll has placed huge belief in our team, as well as demonstrating confidence and commitment to the development of their airfield infrastructure capability.

“I’m very much looking forward to leading the team as we work on enhancing Ramboll’s capability in the aviation sector, and know I’ll enjoy doing so.”
