Tom James has been appointed as Nexus Planning associate director at its Birmingham office, to strengthen the consultancy’s growing network and capability across the UK

In his new role as Nexus Planning associate director, Tom James will work on strategic land and housing delivery projects, strengthening the consultancy’s advice to existing clients and growing Nexus’ Midlands client base.

Working alongside Roger Tustain, Nexus’ managing director, Tom will also collaborate with the Nexus team in Reading, Bristol, Manchester and London to deliver specialist strategic land management capabilities nationwide.

Tom brings extensive public sector experience and planning policy expertise

Prior to joining Nexus Planning, Tom was principal policy officer at West Northamptonshire Council where he was involved in: leading the local plan process; policy lead on key sustainable urban extensions and strategic employment sites; advising on a number of potential development sites; and participating in Local Plan Examinations and Section 78 appeals.

He has also undertaken and commissioned extensive evidence-based material, including leading on Strategic Land Availability Assessments, Housing and Economic Needs Assessments and New Settlement Studies.
