Hugh Raven, Willmott Dixon

Willmott Dixon has appointed Hugh Raven to a new board-level position of general counsel, reporting to group chief executive Rick Willmott

Hugh Raven will have overall responsibility for Willmott Dixon’s legal and regulatory affairs, supported by the company secretary and fellow board-member Wendy McWilliams.

Raven brings a wealth of expertise and strategic leadership experience gained from being a partner at Eversheds LLP, and then more recently with Kier, where he spent 11 years as general counsel, company secretary to the plc board and a member of the executive committee.

In keeping with Willmott Dixon’s approach towards sustainability, the company recently unveiled the new 2030 sustainable strategy, ‘Now or Never; our decisive decade’.

The ‘Now or Never’ strategy also sees the company pledge that its own operations will be zero carbon in ten years’ time and is aiming for its supply chain partners to be net-zero carbon in operation by 2040.

Now or Never’ will see the company cut all operational carbon emissions to zero by 2030.

A driven approach towards sustainability, diversity and inclusion

Rick Willmott, chief executive, believes that the arrival of Hugh Raven further strengthens Willmott Dixon’s senior management team.

Rick Willmott added: “We’ve taken our time to find the right person who could demonstrate an impeccable track record and legal credentials alongside possessing a thorough knowledge and understanding of our industry.

“I know Hugh is really looking forward to working in a private company, and what made Willmott Dixon really stand out to him are our values, reputation and purpose-driven approach towards sustainability, diversity and inclusion.”
