Mick George employees have completed the Three Peaks challenge in order to raise money for the Macmillan Cancer Support charity

Mick George charity workFive courageous employees from Mick George Ltd have returned from successfully completing the famous ‘Three Peaks Challenge’ this weekend, to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

With weeks of training beforehand, Ben Collett, Chris Gunkel, Garry Woodcock, Lee Cox, Anthony McCann and Joe Gossage embraced the ultimate challenge, in the hope to raise as much money as possible for one of Mick George Ltds chosen Charities of the year for 2017/18.

The challenge started off in Scotland, where the team climbed to the summit of Ben Nevis; the largest peak in the UK, before heading down and travelling to Scafell Pike for phase two in the Lake District. The final obstacle awaited the team in Wales, where they conquered Snowdon, all within 24 hours, and partly under the cover of darkness!

Kudos to the team, who have stretched themselves both physically and mentally for this gruelling encounter, all made worthwhile by returning home to their combined donations total which surpassed £1,900!

If you would like to support the group, their JustGiving page is still live.

Jon Stump, Finance Director at Mick George Ltd, commented: “Last year we introduced a voting system for our Corporate Charity of the Year, encouraging staff to have their say on which charity any Company fundraising should go towards. Macmillan Cancer Support and the British Heart Foundation have been at the forefront of employees minds this year, and we’re thrilled to hear about all of the amazing challenges that have been completed as a result.”

Stump continued: “The physical and mental struggles that the team have met in the lead up to, and during this challenge, have been incredible. As well as carrying out their day-to-day roles, they have also taken on the stature of representing Mick George Ltd externally as true champions, and we’re elated at the amount they achieved in raising for such a worthwhile charity.”
