Gabrielle Costigan MBE has been appointed as non-executive director at Balfour Beatty, taking effect from 8 March 2024

Following Balfour Beatty’s Annual General Meeting on 9 May, Gabby Costigan will succeed Stuart Doughty CMG as chair of the Safety & Sustainability Committee, as Stuart steps down from the Board following nine years as a non-executive director.

Gabby Costigan brings military and leadership experience to the role

Gabby is an aeronautical engineer with a diverse international career, including 21 years in the Australian Army.

She was previously chief executive officer of the logistics business, Linfox International Group.

In 2017, she joined BAE Systems plc as chief executive officer of BAE Systems Australia before being promoted to her current role of group managing director, business development and a member of the Executive Committee.

Stuart Doughty was thanked by Balfour Beatty’s chair

Lord Charles Allen of Kensington, CBE and chair of Balfour Beatty, said: “I would like to thank Stuart for the significant contribution he has made to Balfour Beatty during his nine years as non-executive director and chair of the Safety & Sustainability Committee. Under his stewardship, the Company has made significant improvements to its health and safety performance and in advancing its sustainability endeavours.

“I am delighted that Gabby has agreed to join us. Her experience of large, complex international organisations and significant experience in regulated markets make her a strong addition to Balfour Beatty’s Board.”
