Building work is set to start on the first phase of a new town development in Devon after planning permission was granted by South Hams District Council and Plymouth City Council.

The first phase of work will comprise of 580 new homes in Sherford, near Plymouth. The development, which will be constructed by Red Tree, will eventually include 5,500 properties.

Red Tree, the project founder, will work with a consortium of developers including Taylor Wimpey, Linden Homes and Bovis Homes to deliver the development.
