A £5.17m Alderley Park bioscience campus project delivering 3,000 sq m of new laboratories and workspace has been completed by Caddick Construction

Bruntwood SciTech’s Alderley Park bioscience campus project is the third at the site, after Caddick completed £26m of refurbishment and expansion work to No.21 at Mereside, a flagship four-storey lab and office block, and the new 2,227 space, seven multi-storey car park.

The refurbishment includes high specification laboratories and communal workspaces

This latest development has refurbished No. 23 – 24 and 19D basement in Mereside to provide a new internal configuration.

It has delivered high-specification laboratories, alongside breakout and presentation spaces at the world-leading science and technology campus.

The Alderley Park bioscience campus project space has been designed with science and hi-tech businesses in mind, particularly those working in drug discovery and development, infectious diseases, and oncology.

Caddick recruited and used supply chains from the local area

David Burton, contracts manager at Caddick Construction, said: “The team is delighted to have completed our third successful phase of world-class science and technology space at Alderley Park. We have worked at the site for the last four years and have a great working relationship with the Bruntwood SciTech team and the customers.

“As part of our commitment to generating local employment, skills and training opportunities we used a local supply chain where possible and recruited locally for our placement opportunities.”

Kath Mackay, director of Life Sciences, Bruntwood SciTech, said: “The life sciences sector is witnessing rapid and continued growth in the North West and the creation of these pioneering workspaces speaks to that demand.

“Alderley Park is already a world-leading campus for science and technology and a key location for the North’s thriving life sciences sector. Investing in its future will keep this facility – and its businesses – at the forefront of regional, national and international innovation.”

The Caddick Construction team is also delivering a fourth project at the site, refurbishing Mereside’s No.22, which is set to complete later this summer.
