Plant hire firm Ardent has placed an order worth £40m to secure 700 new JCB Loadall telescopic handlers and forklift trucks…

A major new contract has been developed between plant hire firm Ardent Hire Solutions and plant equipment manufacturer JCB.

Ardent was established last year as the result of a merger between Fork Rent and One Call Hire. The firm has its head office in Middlesex and trades from 12 depots nationwide. The firm has a fleet holding of around £150m and provides over 5,000 units for hire.

The order, which is worth £40m, will see JCB provide the hire firm with 700 new machines. This includes the JCB Loadall telescopic handlers and rough terrain forklift trucks. This, the firm said, was a continuation of their commitment to invest in the most technologically advanced machines on the market.

JCB’s sales director for the UK and Ireland Dan Thompstone said: “Ardent Hire Solutions is a key partner for us in the UK rental market and its continued investment in JCB equipment is testament to JCB’s product innovation, reliability and unrivalled UK-wide dealer aftermarket and parts support.”

Tom Gleeson, commercial director for Ardent, said: “Ardent Hire Solutions is increasing its share of the UK hire market and we intend building on that position by investing in the best equipment on offer.

“Our purchase of JCB machines is our largest investment so far this year. We are committed to invest in the best, most technologically advanced machines for our customers offering far superior products then any of our competitors.”

Leicestershire-based Watling JCB will supply the equipment.
