A-Plant now owns one of the largest rental fleets of Alimak and Stros construction hoists in the UK following a deal with construction hoist firm GB Access.

Under the terms of the agreement GB Access will continue to operate as an independent business within A-Plant’s specialist products division. It will take its place alongside FLG Services, A-Plant’s lifting equipment division.

The deal includes more than 300 hoists. This comprises of both passenger and goods hoists, as well as goods-only and beam hoists.

Additionally, 30 service vehicles, a number of pick-up trucks, and some 32-tonne lorries fitted with Palfinger loader cranes will also form part of the agreement.

A-Plant’s managing director of specialist products division Richard Thomas said: “GB Access is a long established and well respected hirer of hoists and this acquisition affords us new capabilities to even better serve our customers who use lifting equipment.

“We believe that the GB Access hoist hire product range, along with its dedicated team, will open up new specialist opportunities for us in this sector.”

GB Access director Pat Barford also commented, stating: “I am confident that the support from A-Plant and the commitment to invest in the very best equipment currently available will enable us to grow the business going forward, and will affirm and maintain this division of A-Plant as the premier hoist rental company in the UK.”
