Willmott Dixon has been chosen as the preferred contractor for the £14.5m Passivhaus school in Basingstoke, Hampshire
Hounsome Fields Primary School will be designed and constructed to achieve Passivhaus Classic standard.
Procured through the Southern Construction Framework, Willmott Dixon is set to start construction on the Passivhaus school in early 2024.
Sustainable features of the new school include a ground-source heat pump heating system beneath the playing fields, plus solar control triple glazing.
The growing demand for Passivhaus-standard property has seen Willmott Dixon involved in several notable projects recently, including:
- A new generation of homes for Caerphilly County Borough Council
- Spelthorne Leisure Centre
- A multi-Faith centre for the University of Exeter
- Student accommodation for St Peter’s College at the University of Oxford.
