Mick George Ltd discuss their involvement on the Babraham Research Campus, completing earthworks on the site as part of the £35million pound extension.

Construction works will shortly commence on the £35million pound extension to Babraham Research Campus, Cambridge with Local business Mick George Ltd completing Earthworks at the site, for MJS Construction (March) Ltd on behalf of SDC Construction Limited.

Already widely regarded as one of the UK’s leading campus’ to support early-stage bioscience enterprise, the location back in October 2017 announced a partnership with BioMed Realty that will see the creation of two new buildings, with a combined 108,000 sq ft. of space for integrated laboratories and offices.

It is anticipated that the scheme will house life sciences start-ups and scale-ups in the same way as the existing Campus’ which opened in 1993, and is now home to some 60 enterprises and around 2,000 people.

When complete, the entire space occupied by the Campus’ will exceed the 300,000 sq ft. mark.

The Babraham Research Campus

The Babraham Research Campus is managed and developed by Babraham Bioscience Technologies (BBT) on behalf of its shareholders, The Babraham Institute and the Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC).

The move represents further expansion for BioMed Reality in the county of Cambridgeshire, having already acquired Granta Park in 2012, recognising the locations premier academic and research institutions, highly skilled workforce and portfolio of strong commercial life-science organisations.

Cambridge is Europe’s leading technology cluster, with 57,000 people employed by 1,500 technology based firms.
