Glider created Asset Intelligence, the discipline that ensures the people responsible for buildings can find, trust and act on the information they need across the full lifecycle.

We work with main contractors, asset owners and operators on one of the built environment’s most persistent challenges. Information is created during delivery but rarely survives into operation in a form that can be relied on. Drawings, O&M manuals, asset registers and models are delivered at handover. Confidence in that information often erodes as soon as buildings enter use.

Asset Intelligence exists to close that gap, which Glider calls the Performance Gap. It brings structure, governance and continuity to asset information so it can support decisions about safety, compliance, sustainability and investment.

What makes Asset Intelligence a new discipline

Parts of the work will look familiar. Design teams, handover specialists, asset managers and FM data leads already practise pieces of it within their stage. What no existing discipline does is bring those activities together across the full lifecycle of a building. That is what Asset Intelligence names, and that is what Glider enables.

Asset Intelligence also describes the how, not just the what. Standards such as ISO 19650 set expectations. The Building Safety Act sets obligations. Asset Intelligence describes how organisations build the capability to meet them and sustain it as buildings change.

A heritage in delivery and handover

Glider began in digital handover, working on complex projects to ensure information created during delivery could be used confidently in operation. In 2024, Glider acquired EDocuments, bringing together more than 30 years of combined digital handover experience.

That heritage means we understand the realities main contractors face. Information is produced under pressure, across multiple parties and to varying standards. Late checking, rework and fragmented close-out remain common. By applying Asset Intelligence during delivery, information is produced to the right standard throughout the project rather than assembled or chased at the end. That means cleaner handover for contractors, faster sign-off and fewer disputes over information quality.

From handover to long-term use

Digital handover is a critical moment. It should not be the end of the information journey.

Capture produces information to the right standard, whether on new projects, on existing estates where it was never structured, or as buildings change over time. Governance gives information ownership, structure and traceability. Delivery makes it usable by the people and systems that rely on it. Active use turns information into better decisions on safety, performance and long-term outcomes.
