Galliford Try’s Environment business has secured two spots on the Welsh Water capital maintenance framework, the first such achievements since the acquisition of nmcn water

The Welsh Water maintenance framework is expected to be worth in the region of £20m to the Group in the initial five-year term, transcending AMP7 and AMP8, with a potential extension for a further three years.

The Welsh Water maintenance framework contract follows a booming 18 months in water management for Galliford Try

The Major Mechanical and Major Electrical frameworks are Galliford Try’s first with Welsh Water for over 10 years and comes in close succession to the business’s appointment on Northumbrian Water’s AMP7 framework

Galliford Try is now working for all 11 of the regulated water and sewage companies across the England, Wales and Scotland, across its design and build and capital maintenance activities. They currently have established relationships with Scottish Water, Southern Water and Yorkshire Water.

As part of the £1m acquisition of nmcn last October, 900 employees joined Galliford Try, including the senior management team of nmcn Water.

The firm also recently secured two places on Northumbrian Water’s Chemical Dosing framework through Lintott Control Systems, part of the environment team.

Renewing sustainability in ageing infrastructure

Steve Slessor, managing director of Galliford Try’s Environment business, commented on the developments: “We have been making fantastic progress of advancing our Sustainable Growth Strategy, which targets further growth in complementary and adjacent markets.

“From being a traditional design and build contractor, we have had great success extending our capability into capital maintenance and asset optimisation. These additional capabilities equip us well to support the sector in tackling the challenges of ageing infrastructure, climate change resilience, funding pressure and an increasingly stringent regulatory environment and we look forward to working together with Welsh Water to deliver better outcomes for customers across the country.”
