modular homes, Greenway development,

The first modular homes have been delivered on site in Speke and fully installed in less than two days

Using innovative technology, four 3-bedroom homes were built offsite in Yorkshire by modular construction company Ilke Homes, before being transported to the 119-home development on Greenway Road. Although the three-bedroom modular homes have been built using modern methods of construction, they are indistinguishable from the traditionally built homes on the site and will be ready to move into in a matter of weeks.

The sustainable homes offer low running costs for tenants and will enable South Liverpool Homes (SLH) to meet the increased demands for homes in the area at a quicker pace of delivery.

Claire Ryan, director of investment and assurance at SLH, said: “We are thrilled to be working with ilke Homes and Keepmoat Homes on this pilot which are the first modular homes to be built for South Liverpool Homes.

“Using this modern method of construction offers real benefits to us as a housing association and to our customers – it enables us to build homes at an accelerated pace, reduce our impact on the environment whilst also offering customers high quality homes where they could save up to 20% on their fuel bills. We will continue to explore how we can use this innovative construction method on this and other schemes.”

“The Greenway development is our single biggest housing development in Speke to date,” continued Claire.

“We are committed to building quality homes for affordable rent and home ownership which will help meet the needs of current and future generations in South Liverpool; using this modular construction method alongside traditional construction methods will help us achieve this.”

Gareth Roberts, regional managing director at Keepmoat Homes, commented: “The Greenway is an exciting development which will see much needed high-quality new homes made available to the people of Liverpool through mixed tenure by South Liverpool Homes.

“We’re delighted to be working in partnership with South Liverpool Homes, and that together with our delivery partner ilke Homes we are able to bring these first modular homes to the area.”

Dave Sheridan, executive chairman at ilke Homes, added: “We’re extremely proud to have delivered our first modular homes in the North West at this landmark development in Speke for South Liverpool Homes.

“These much-needed, high-quality family homes are part of an estate wide master plan which aims to completely transform the area into an aspirational and inclusive community for young professionals, families and older people. We’re proud to be part of it.”

The Greenway development is funded by Homes England and is expected to be completed by spring 2021.
