WISH, the network for women working across every discipline of UK housing, undertakes crucial work in challenging stereotypes and helping to remove barriers for women working in the sector

Civitas Social Housing PLC, the leading social housing real estate investment trust, has teamed up with Women in Social Housing (WISH) to support its day-to-day activities.

It is also dedicated to encouraging women to choose a career in housing, as well as assisting those already working in the sector to progress and develop.

The new partnership will be a key factor in helping WISH, which rebranded last year and is currently undergoing a restructure, to build its network and deliver new events and services for its increasing number of members.

Katie McDonald, finance and membership manager of Wish commented: “We are thrilled that Civitas has agreed to sponsor our work. Sponsorship of this nature enables us to promote the aims, objectives and the many strengths of WISH to a wider audience.

“This sponsorship will help us in our mission to address gender equality across the sector. It will enable us to support more young women thinking about housing or construction as a career and help us offer support through our mentoring programme.”

Paul Bridge, CEO of Civitas, said: “We are firm believers of maximising diversity and equality within social housing – it results in a better service for tenants. WISH plays a vital role in supporting women in social housing careers, and we are proud to be their staunch supporters.”

Civitas is the latest company to sponsor WISH, which signed sponsorship deals last year with leading infrastructure services, buildings and developments & housing group Kier, property development and investment company MHA London, Greenacre Recruitment and national law firm Capsticks.
