Latimer, the development arm of Clarion Housing Group, and The Hill Group will begin the construction of 349 new homes in Attleborough in Norfolk this summer

Together, Latimer and The Hill Group will build much needed housing for local people. Back in June 2021, Latimer made sure to consult with local people so that the residents could be at the forefront of shaping proposals for a new sustainable and mixed-tenure residential community.

Planning approval was secured for the first phase in January to deliver an initial 153 new homes, including 56 affordable units. This has surpassed the planning policy for local affordable housing provision.

The second phase of the site is still pending approval, but once secured, the wider 38.8-acre development will offer a range of new homes in Attenborough. This includes one, two, three and four-bedroom homes, with designs reflecting the region’s existing architecture.

Affordable homes for a ‘tenure-blind’ scheme

The new houses in Attenborough will be built in the same style as the private sale homes, creating a ‘tenure-blind’ scheme.

This development provides vital new affordable housing for the town, with a variety of sustainable features. For example, all homes will be gas-free and fitted with modern, air-source heat pumps.

New green space will be incorporated into the scheme, with walking routes, trees, a habitat pond and play areas to promote mental wellbeing and healthy living.

The new homes in Attleborough will be only a short walk from the town centre, supporting a ’20-minute Neighbourhood’ planning concept which aims to reduce road traffic by ensuring facilities such as shops and train stations remain close by.

There are also plans to develop the project by expanding nearby schools and the town’s library.

Greg Hill, group chief executive at The Hill Group, commented:

We are delighted to be embarking on another exciting project with Latimer, continuing our successful partnership on this landmark new development in Norfolk. Together with our partners Latimer, we are committed to working with the community and local stakeholders as we start planning for construction work to begin on-site this summer.”

‘A new community where everyone belongs’

Group Director of Development Richard Cook, at Clarion Housing Group, said:

“We were thrilled to get the green light to build this first phase of homes in Attleborough and create a new community where everyone belongs. Our proposals meet a clear local housing need and will provide a variety of homes that capture the town’s character and existing architecture.

“Working with The Hill Group, we will deliver vital affordable housing options within walking distance of Attleborough town centre – boosting the local economy, keeping cars off the streets and helping to reduce the area’s carbon footprint.”
