Construction projects in Cumbria worth £8.7bn

New research has revealed the amount of construction taking place in Cumbria over the next three years is worth £8.7bn

The pipeline analysis, which was collected and created by the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce, looked at assessing the needs of the entire North West region in regards to construction.

The analysis, which is the first to be conducted in the area, found there is £114.36bn worth of construction projects underway in the region. Output between 2015 and 2018 is expected to be £29.93bn.

The research also highlighted the strength of the construction sector in Cumbria. The region has a significant amount of construction projects underway, so much so that by 2018 Cumbria’s construction industry is expected to be worth more than Lancashire, Merseyside, and Cheshire in terms of the value of construction projects undertaken in the county.

Currently, Cumbria has around £8.7bn worth of construction projects in the pipeline, putting the county second only to Greater Manchester, which currently has £8.9bn worth of construction projects.

The report also placed two Cumbrian schemes in the top 10 high value projects in the region. The Nugen Project, and the Nuclear Decommissioning project were named the top two most valuable schemes underway in the North West.
