Cambridgeshire-based groundworks contractor Bowie Construction has filed a notice of intention to appoint an administrator

Bowie Construction offers supply and fix services within the construction process, including groundworks, road and sewer construction, paving and fencing within housing, commercial and industrial sectors.

The company website claims that Bowie have undertaken “all sizes of projects, including full scale industrial and housing and all types of private works including eco-friendly projects.”

Establsihed approximately 15 years ago, the firm reported a £1m loss in 2022 on a £15m turnover, citing cost inflation on fixed price jobs and employed 70 staff.

The collapse leaves a £12m contract in flux

Bowie Construction was carrying out groundworks at the Florence Fields development in Gaywood as a sub-contractor of Lovell Homes, which would have delivered 300 homes upon completion.

Lovell was working in partnership with the borough council, who are now understandably concerned for the development’s future.

West Norfolk Cabinet member for business Cllr Alistair Beales said that the liquidation of Bowie Construction was a “big concern” with Lovell Homes worried about costs and considering taking the groundworks contract in-house.

Legal firm Blake Morgan is believed to be handling Bowie Construction’s affairs at the time of writing.
