Contractor Winvic will construct and fit-out a 384 apartment build-to-rent project for property rental agents Leicester Lettings Ltd

The build-to-rent project is located at the former Merlin Works site on Bath Lane in Leicester, and is a 68,000 sq. ft. long-standing vacant site located just outside the city centre ring road.

The modern apartment blocks will be complete by the end of 2020.

The scheme will comprise 256 one bedroom and 128 two bedroom apartments within three towers that will reach 10, 14 and 16 storeys high. There will also be a ground floor commercial unit, a two-level under croft car park and a shared outdoor space for residents, which will be created via a five, eight and nine-storey raised podium.

Andy Bassett, Winvic’s Operations Manager for the new Bath Lane project, said: “It’s fantastic to announce that we are working with Jamie Lewis of Leicester Lettings Ltd on another city centre, high rise residential project and our relationship is an example of how we attract repeat business.

“We are also particularly looking forward to facilitating work placements for local young people, who can be proud of being a part of their city’s regeneration; we have already been working with Leicester City Council to achieve this and will continue to create partnerships with communities throughout the development.”

Jamie Lewis, Managing Director of Leicester Lettings Ltd, added: “The regeneration of the Bath Lane area is well underway and the design of our 10 to 16 storey residential scheme has been developed to fit in with the adjacent buildings and have stunning views of the river.

“There is a real need for contemporary accommodation in central Leicester, as in many other UK cities, that means individuals, students, couples and families can live close to their places of work, study and leisure amenities, and have great transport links; having worked with Winvic before, I know the 384 apartments and other residential spaces will be completed to the absolute highest standards and will be enjoyed by tenants at the end of 2020.”
