The Edenbridge retirement community development is the 29th of a planned 34 Integrated Retirement Communities in Inspired Living’s £500m joint venture

The former golf course site owned by the Kent and Surrey Golf Club will be the site of an Edenbridge retirement community providing 100 units across 184,000 square feet of accomodation.

The deal marks the 29th site within its £500m joint venture between NatWest Pension Group Fund and Legal & General.

The JV plans to open 34 Integrated Retirement Communities, providing over 5,000 homes for around 8,000 people.

Boosting social value in the local community through reducing social strains

Edenbridge is well connected with hourly trains to London and M25 access. The retirement site is within a 15-minute walking distance from the local market town centre.

Inspired intends to consult locally on existing permissions to the site to add facilities beneficial to the local area, such as a new restaurant and wellness suite.

Retirement communities providing for the specific needs of the over-65s are believed to support longer, healthier lives, reducing strains on local health services and social care. There is also the added benefit of freeing up housing for younger families.

Neal Dale, chief development and property officer for Inspired Villages, commented: “We are keen to start progressing plans for the village here whilst raising awareness and gaining support from the local community. The provision of this type of age-appropriate accommodation is of wider benefit as it naturally frees up housing stock throughout every element of the property ladder.

“Edenbridge is part of our wider business vision to open 34 sites as we embark on a mission to become the leading retirement community operator in the UK, with communities that are flourishing and residents living the best years of their lives.”

The Edenbridge retirement development is the latest acquisition in Inspired’s period of expansion

Inspired Villages currently has eight operational villages located across the UK, from Cheshire to Exeter with a further three sites under construction.

One of these sites will reportedly be the first net zero carbon Integrated Retirement Community in the UK.

Millfield Green is due to open to residents in Autumn.
