Topcon to showcase automated technology at the Digital Construction Summit

2002

Topcon Ireland will be showcasing its cutting-edge precision technology at the Digital Construction Summit (7 March), demonstrating how construction and geospatial professionals can effortlessly automate working processes to boost outputs on survey, mapping and inspection projects

Experts from the Topcon team will be on hand to clarify how their integrated hardware and software systems can reduce costs and minimise time on projects – with a specific focus on making the collection, management and sharing of data seamless from field to site.

For example, Topcon’s LN-100 robotic layout navigator will be available for demo at the Digital Construction Summit. Designed to help make site measurement and setting-out applications easier and quicker, the self-levelling total station can be operated by one person and connects wirelessly to a hand-held tablet. It also integrates seamlessly with BIM models, allowing data to be exported to and from the LN-100 for accurate, real-time as-built information.

For visitors looking for a more efficient way of capturing mass data on survey or inspection jobs, Topcon will be showcasing its range of unmanned aerial systems (UASs).

By integrating the UASs with Topcon’s software packages, including ContextCapture (in partnership with Bentley Systems) and MAGNET Collage, users can process this data and create precise 3D models from the imagery.

Comment on the event, Karol Friel – Sales Manager at Topcon Ireland – said: “Following the announcement of the Government’s BIM strategy in recent months, the use of digital tools to improve construction has never been a bigger focus for Ireland. With demands for infrastructure and housing outweighing supply, it’s essential that as an industry we’re evolving the way we build in Ireland by embracing new approaches. That way we can speed up data collection and refine the way it’s used and shared on challenging infrastructure projects.

“Being a Gold Sponsor of the Digital Construction Summit gives Topcon the perfect platform to come together with industry professionals and inspire new ways of working that help boost efficiency on site.”

In addition to showcasing its wide range of technology, Topcon’s European BIM manager, John Foster, will also be presenting on “The Intersection of Infrastructure and Technology”. The concept explores the current and future demands on the infrastructure sector and how adopting new ways of working with advanced technology can increase productivity.
