Godwin Developments has appointed Michael Jones as construction director to lead the business’ construction and development functions
The announcement of Michael Jones’ arrival follows the recent appointments of Robert Birch and Lindsay McCombe as senior development directors, Owen Michealson as regional chairman – London, and the promotion of James Mulcare to the position of head of residential capital markets.
Jones has led the delivery of a range of commercial and residential projects, including the regeneration of thousands of acres of brownfield land across the country, resulting in the construction of over 10,000 new homes and 10 million sq ft of distribution, manufacturing, commercial and retail space.
A chartered quantity surveyor, he has more than 35-years of experience in the strategic management of large-scale construction and development projects gained in directorship positions with well-known real estate brands such as Harworth Estates and Castlemore Securities Ltd.
Later in his career, Jones headed the technical team for the sale and regeneration of the Filton Airfield for BAE Systems, creating 3,000 homes and 24 hectares of industrial space for high-tech industry giants such as Rolls Royce, Airbus and GKN.
Expansion plans and new projects in the pipeline
Michael Jones said: “I am really pleased to have joined Godwin Developments at a time when the business and its portfolio are undergoing a period of exciting growth.
“With further expansion planned and many new projects in the pipeline, there is a clear opportunity to increase our market share across both the residential and commercial property sectors nationwide, something I am looking forward to playing an active role in straight away, working closely with the Board, colleagues and external stakeholders.”
Stuart Pratt, group development director at Godwin Developments, added: “I am thrilled that our business has been able to attract such an accomplished construction lead.
“Michael brings with him a huge amount of experience and an outstanding reputation both of which will significantly boost our capacity and delivery rate moving forward.
“His appointment is part of our programme for continuous investment in our in-house capabilities, supporting our ambitions to become a nationally leading development company.
“I am incredibly pleased to welcome Michael to the team and wish him every success in his new role.”
