Housing association, ForHousing has finished work on the £5.4m development of 53 new affordable homes in Salford

The affordable homes in Salford, which are available for affordable rent, are in Walkden and Little Hulton.

In Walkden, an apartment block of 36 one and two-bedroom homes has been built at Rowan House, while the Whittlebrook scheme provides 10 two and three-bedroom family homes.

In Little Hulton, seven one and two-bedroom bungalows have been completed at Russell Court, offering additional support to allow people to live independently.

The new affordable homes in Salford replace outdated housing schemes that were demolished in 2017.

Nigel Sedman, group director of Homes, said: “We are delighted to be welcoming tenants into these newly completed homes. We hope their new home will offer somewhere they can feel safe and plan out a future with new possibilities.”

One new tenant, Mr Hoey was offered a home in Rowan House with his wife.

Mr Hoey explained: “I was really happy with the contact and information we received from ForHousing and since moving in, the great service has not stopped; we’ve been constantly kept in the loop. We feel so settled here and we’re so glad we’ve found our forever home.”

ForHousing has developed more than 900 new homes to date and is set to build a further 540 by 2020.

Two of the sites, Russell Court and Whittlebrook, were developed by property services business Liberty, while the third site, Rowan House, was developed by construction firm Strategic Team Group (STG), now part of Galliford Try Partnerships.

The schemes, designed by John McCall Architects, received more than £1m grant funding from Homes England towards the development of the affordable homes in Salford.
