A disgruntled builder has been filmed smashing up a new Travelodge in Liverpool – allegedly due to unpaid wages amounting to £600

The digger was eventually driven out of the building, leaving a heap of debris and broken glass in its wake.

Merseyside Police arrived at the Travelodge, which is based at Liverpool Innovation Park, at 3pm.

They said one man was treated at the scene by North West Ambulance Service for irritation to his eyes caused by exposure to diesel.

A GoFundMe page set up to help fund “unpaid wages” reached its £600 target within hours.

Merseyside Police have confirmed they are investigating the incident.
