Deanestor, contract furniture specialists, has been awarded its largest contract to date in the residential sector, the fit-out of one of the biggest rental schemes in Manchester
The £247m project forms part of Circle Square, a £750m mixed-use development on the former BBC site in the heart of the city. This landmark regeneration scheme will create a vibrant new urban neighbourhood, delivered over three phases and providing homes, commercial office accommodation, and retail and leisure space.
Deanestor will manufacture and install 683 kitchens and around 2000 fitted wardrobes for the premium one, two and three-bedroom apartments for modern private residential living. The bespoke fitted wardrobes in four sizes will be finished in contemporary cashmere with a sleek metal edge handle.
As part of the design development process, Deanestor created a mock-up kitchen at its Mansfield factory for the client team to review.
Tristan Herbert, senior development manager at Vita Group, commented: “These are high quality apartments to meet the rising demand for city living.
“Our requirement is for exceptional quality kitchen and bedroom furniture and a robust installation. Design-led aesthetic appeal for the fitted furniture is essential in order to attract tenants and to ensure the apartments look good for years to come.”
William Tonkinson, managing director of Deanestor, said: “The client required a combination of flexibility and quality with bespoke sizes and designs to suit the space and budget.
“Carefully-planned logistics and project management will ensure such a high number of furniture items will be installed with maximum efficiency until the end of 2020 on this large city centre site.”
The open-plan kitchens will have white quartz worktops, an oak-effect finish to the breakfast bar and moulded doors with an integrated handle in indigo blue for the base units and white for the wall cupboards. Door backs will be colour-matched, and the cabinets will be manufactured by Deanestor to very tight tolerances for this high specification, design-led residential scheme.
Deanestor will also manufacture and install 683 service cupboards in three sizes, and 350 store cupboards, finished in indigo blue.
The lifestyle enhancing living spaces at Circle Square will include shared lounge areas, co-working spaces, gyms and facilities for private entertaining, split across two buildings.
The contract at Circle Square is Deanestor’s second private residential scheme for Vita Group in Manchester.
Deanestor is working with main contractor Sir Robert McAlpine on the Riverside development where it is manufacturing and installing 190 kitchens designed exclusively for rent.
