Kier has secured a £8.6m contract to transform Hythe and Dibden War Memorial Hospital in Hampshire

The redevelopment of Hythe and Dibden War Memorial Hospital will see Kier demolish the existing hospital and construct a new building.

Procured through the Southern Construction Framework (SCF), Kier will deliver a two-storey 1,664m² health facility, with a GP surgery and outpatient services, including physiotherapy, audiology and gynaecology as well as a space for dentistry.

In tribute to the original hospital building, which was opened as a memorial to those who lost their lives in the first world war, an etched stone memorial will feature in the new hospital.

The local community has been central to the development of the new hospital, including Hythe and Dibden War Memorial Hospital League of Friends and The Royal British Legion and throughout the duration of this build, Kier will provide regular updates as well as offer job and training opportunities.

‘Meeting the modern day needs of staff and patients’

Louisa Finlay, managing director of Kier Regional Building Southern, said: “Hythe and Dibden War Memorial Hospital has been providing important services for the people of South Hampshire for many years and following our appointment by NHS Property Services to redevelop the hospital we look forward to delivering a new building with state-of-the-art amenities that will meet the modern day needs of its staff and patients.

“We have extensive experience in the healthcare sector and over the next two years, we will work with our skilled and local supply chain partners to sustainably deliver this new hospital.”

Kier has started on site with works set to be complete in Spring 2022.
