Enfield Council has revealed the four shortlisted developers for the first 725-housing site on its £6bn Meridian Water site

The first 725 homes will be built around the new Meridian Water train station, alongside new public spaces, shops and leisure facilities.

More than ten firms submitted bids to Enfield Council, which then shortlisted Galliford Try, L&Q, Peabody and Redrow.

Meridian One is one of the first sites being offered for procurement through the Greater London Authority’s (GLA) new London Development Panel to potential developer partners, enhancing the delivery of hundreds of new affordable and private homes.

Outline planning consent is currently in place for these new homes, with construction enabling works having already begun two years ago.

The new Meridian Water train station is due to open in summer 2019.

Commenting on the shortlist, Councillor Nesil Caliskan, Leader of Enfield Council, said: “This is another clear demonstration of the progress we’re making at Meridian Water and the confidence the development community has shown in the Council to deliver one of London’s most exciting regeneration projects.

“It is the Council’s aspiration to create a new destination where local residents and Londoners can afford to live in a vibrant and exciting setting.

“By taking control of the vision for Meridian Water and overseeing its delivery, we are now able to select the right development partner for each phase and accelerate the delivery of the first housing site at Meridian One.”

An announcement on the chosen development partner is expected to be made in spring 2019.
