Network Rail is seeking suppliers to provide design, technical and engineering consultancy services worth up to £650m across its Design Services Framework

The rail operator has published a Prior Information Notice (PIN) to make contractors aware of the five-to-eight-year framework, which includes electrification works, technical design and engineering consultancy services.

The design services framework will be split into 10 lots and also features building design, track works, geotechnical works and signalling upgrades.

Suppliers will provide professional design, technical and engineering consultancy services ‘as advised from time to time by Network Rail throughout the term of the Framework Agreement’ for any combination of 10 single disciplines on a national basis.

There are in addition 10 regional single discipline lots, where suppliers will provide services within one of Network Rail’s four regions.

The 10 disciplines are:

  • Buildings and Architecture;
  • Civil and Structural;
  • Consent and Environment;
  • Electrification and Plant – Contact Systems;
  • Electrification and Plant – Distribution Design;
  • Electrification and Plant – Plant;
  • Geotechnical;
  • Signalling/Train Control;
  • Telecoms including Construction Industry Scheme (CIS);
  • Track.

The PIN gives the value of the framework at £650m. It gives the estimated date of the publication of a contract notice as 5 October 2018.
