Selsey housing, affordable housing

Persimmon Homes has revealed plans to build new homes in Selsey, after successfully finalising a land deal that will see a near £2m contribution towards community services

Persimmon South Coast says it wants to build the previously consented 193 new homes at the 19-acre site located at Manor Road.

The anticipated investment from Persimmon will transform the existing site as well as delivering much-needed facilities for the community.

In addition to ensuring 58 of the properties will be delivered as affordable homes, Persimmon’s scheme includes a planned area of green space for residents to enjoy as well as tree and shrub planting throughout the site.

The company will make financial contributions towards improvements to the A27 and to mitigate the impacts of Recreational Disturbance on the Pagham Harbour Special Protection Area.

Almost £1.7m will be paid by Persimmon as a Community Infrastructure Levy, to enable the Local Authority to deliver the specific additional infrastructure needed in the area.

Laying the foundations for a thriving new neighbourhood

Matt Paine, managing director of Persimmon Homes South Coast, said: “This is an exciting development that will not only provide much needed new homes it will also breathe economic life into the area.

“A development of this scale has the potential to create more than 550 jobs – both those directly employed in the construction of the site, and indirectly through the supply chain and additional spending within the local community.

“Our plans include homes to suit a range of buyers, from those looking to get on the property ladder for the first time to families seeking more space as they grow.

“Selsey is a lovely town, close to the natural beauty of Bracklesham Bay and Pagham Harbour, so we expect the development to be very popular with local buyers.”
